Our Pony Club is taking approximately 7-10 members, with a couple parents to USPC Festival this summer and we're looking for suggestions of a super easy hotel or VRBO, close to the Horse Park, kid friendly and with the option of cooking our own meals and doing laundry. The majority of our members are 7-12 y.o.. We have some older teenagers who've been to Lexington, VA, but this will be new for them as well, if they qualify. We will have more kids than parents, so efficient is essential. Any tips on where to stay, what to avoid and in general, how to give a group of young kids a super fun, educational time at Festival? Thanks in advance You may email if it's more appropriate: pou alisonphoward@gmail.com
Good camping at the VHC so if you have access to RV or living quarter trailer best bet for kids. also very good shower facilities there. Tons of hotels very close but you should pou get some reservations asap as they do fill up around there.
What pou does VRBO stand for and which Horse Park is this and on what dates? Sorry, pou don't follow PC, no chapter local to where I live. FE, VRBO is Vacation Rentals By Owner. We have had good luck with renting a house when we've gone to USPC Champs in Virginia. The USPC Festival is at the Kentucky HOrse Park and is held every three years.
I will be there, my mom is flying in to watch me so we are at the Best Western or something. pou I believe lots of people pou (Capital pou region) are at the Clarion. No kitchens, but there is a breakfast buffet and I believe this is the hotel with a huge play area. Should keep them busy!! Lots to do at the horse park (museums, statues, pou tours) just keep in mind you'll want to escape to AC every day around noon if the weather is like it normally is. I advise staying close to the park because you have to be there early to all feed at the same time.
Your pony club region should have a block of rooms reserved at one of the nearby hotels for a reduced pou rate. We went three years ago and were in Georgetown. It was only about 10 - 15 minutes from the Horse Park. When we went for Pony Finals we stayed at the Clarion on Newtown Pike. We had stayed there a few years earlier when we went to Rolex and found that is was very convenient to the Horse Park. Wherever you stay, have a great time! It really pou is a great experience.
