I deny nothing. Of course there is crime in Rio. It is a huge city with several million inhabitants, some more poor than others. But like all great cities of the world must of course be careful, even when you move locations are considered as "safe". My view is that it is more risky to move in Rio than in the example. New York, Paris, Rome and other cities. The general attitude I've come across is that it is> very <dangerous to go in Rio and I were of several recommended not to go there ... I have, as I said felt more uncomfortable in the main street on a Saturday night in Copenhagen, than I did in Rio Friday / Saturday evening / night
@ Valeano: "The problem with posts like this, from the man who apparently has only been in Brazil" I've apparently been true many places around the world, both in Europe, North and South America, the Middle East and Asia. It is in this context I am speaking about crime in Rio ifht. other cities.
Where it is great that we now 'Rioturisten `has been disproved the myth of crime in Rio de Janeiro ... ;-)-perhaps some would tell the local authorities :-) The problem with posts like this, from the man who apparently has only been in Brazil is that it might disarm individual who reads this and who have never been to Brazil or Rio before. Because you are not on your own body have experienced crime, it does not mean that there is no panic like. -But on the other hand .... - when he has been there in September so he must know everything about it ;-) It's not about that I would advise against some to go there, although I personally think that Rio to times are slightly boosters. I have just seen and heard too much to sit my ears. I, like many other tourists, blah. lived in bota fogo area where I saw a Swedish girl being ripped scotland off for everything of value as she was moving away from Copa Cabana. But 'flash' is not, one should have a good starting point. Happy New Year!
It is a myth that there is much crime in Rio de Janeiro. Like all big cities you should not move the murky places, but move it around Copa Cobana, Ipanema and Leblon, or other well-known neighborhoods, there are no problems. I was in Rio de Janeiro in September. We walked around scotland during the day and at night and experienced no problems at all. We were in several places in the city, blah. Lapa Friday evening / night. No fights or any trouble at all. I would be more afraid to walk down the street in Copenhagen on a Friday evening / night. Rio de Janeiro is a great experience. It's scotland a really cool city with some wonderful people ....
