Created: 19-12-2014 10:01 p.m. 900,000 euros of counterfeit notes seized in Marseille FAKE CURRENCY - A counterfeit currency manufacturing dispensary was dismantled. 900,000 travel counterfeit notes were seized.
Tickets are an "exceptional quality", manufactured by a "highly structured international travel organization." 900,000 fake 50 euro notes were seized, according to the prosecutor of Marseilles and the gendarmerie, following the dismantling of a counterfeit money manufacturing pharmacy in Avignon (Vaucluse) and Marseille.
Eleven people travel were arrested on December 16 and the prosecutor of Marseilles asked for the indictment of five people, aged 32 to 47 years for counterfeiting currency and conspiracy.
The gendarmes of the research travel section of Avignon and Marseille search section also seized computers and printers, as well as 10 cartons of paper that can be used to manufacture 8 million in counterfeit bills. Two of the arrested individuals have a criminal record, one has already been sentenced to 7 years in prison for drug trafficking, the other 3 years for fraud and forgery.
General David Galtier, commander of the gendarmerie travel Paca region, welcomed an "operation out of the ordinary" because "the whole chain fell from the pharmacy to manufacturing counterfeit money ". Colonel Kernel Sylvain, who led the investigation, said the "highly technical" counterfeiters who printed their tickets through a "sophisticated equipment" on paper that had all the characteristics of a security paper including watermark inserted in the Notes.
