Namaste! from Nepal | about passports, backpacks and 108 days in south east asia
Henco first rush out to our plane tickets to will confirm little late, but fortunately everything was in order. We will give our extra luggage for long-term storage of and go make breakfast.
We are again fairly early to the airport. With the local bus service, one can never be too careful and we have read that when you sit on the right vd plane you can see the mountains in the coming in Kathmando.
Arrived in Kathmando we meet a man who a hotel in toeruste part vd city, Thamel. He offers us free transport to and a fair price for the room, which is a blessing!
Kathmando traffic is the toughest to date! Absolute chaos! Here are all the cars but in different stages of gekroktheid. The hooters do not like! We once again realize just how lucky we were with our fund vd hotel man, and he certainly.
The hotel is just very simple and we decided there and then that it would be our only night there. Here, the country is load power; 20:30 to 21:00. It allows us in pikdonkerte, happy we were flitsies not too far and we could later candles on receipt. First glimpse of Nepal and far 3rd world (showing Cambodia and Laos developed countries looks just fine).
We have quite a tight program for the day that we all want to be over two days in the mountains. Permits low cost holidays and banking into the city on foot, chasing us. (ATM allows no more than R1500; quite a pain.) The city is quite an experience. Thamel is located in the old city and like all small states alley. Traffic, people, bicycles, motorcycles and even bunks (holy?) low cost holidays Makes the city a noisy hive! A total new experience for us.
We only minimum cold condition brought clothes (only thermal underware) as we each just a medium backpack tour and only for 5-7 days. However, we can not do without during our 12 days Annapurna trekking trip. Today we mainly expanded to all we do not have to buy or rent. Thamel low cost holidays is ROT vd gear shops! It's everywhere! with the coolest gear! We were lucky to brand new sleeping bags at R5 a day to rent! What a bargain! We both had fleeses, windbaadjies, gloves and beanies while Janine also had to get a waterproof pants. Ye shall not believe it, but it was only R745 for everything!! Kathmando is a shopping paradise.
Kathmando far the most cultural experience low cost holidays of the trip for us. It streets are crowded with people, but it's all locals. There are very few Westeners and their not dominate the scene. It also seems the locals' lives as determined by the Westeners as in Southeast Asia. I have only to say that it is a little early in the season. The season break even officially in October, but the weather is fantastic so far. We'll have to see what will happen in the mountain. We are anyway right gegear.
Sounds nice! Well, sounds really rather noisy. Hope you earplugs. I look forward to see your photos of Nepal. I have only heard good things about that country. We go to the weekend Kleinmond. AMPERTJIES as exciting as your weekend ... Good times! C
